JLG Industries Selects BestTransport
Using Automated and Network Solutions in Tiered Implementation for Multi-Plant
Transportation Initiatives
COLUMBUS, Ohio October 31, 2005 - BestTransport, a leading carrier capacity
network and solutions provider, announced today that JLG Industries Inc.
(JLG) a leading producer of mobile aerial work platforms, access equipment
and highway speed telescopic hydraulic excavators, has selected BestTransport
for its transportation management initiatives.
JLG will use BestTransport's solution to increase visibility and maximize
transportation best practices across their entire supply chain. "JLG is
committed to improving delivery service levels and optimizing their transportation
network," said Rick Lawver, Inbound Transportation Administrator for JLG.
"BestTransport's solution will automate our existing business processes
and capture key transportation events to enable management by exception
as well as provide comprehensive reporting and analysis to drive continuous
improvement across our entire supply chain," added Lawver.
"Easy access, visibility and management of transportation information is
important to today's transportation managers," Sam Amore, Vice President
of Sales and Marketing for BestTransport, noted. "Creating customer satisfaction
is what it is all about for JLG at a time when the Company has committed
to enhance services, market focus and six sigma initiatives. Whether it
is managing freight more cost effectively or ensuring on-time delivery,
these are crucial to their customers and the management team."
Through Phase I, BestTransport has simplified JLG's manual processes by
focusing on their multiple interplant loads. "As a result, the system has
become a central repository of all JLG transportation key data, allowing
us improved visibility and maximized resource allocation." Lawver added.
Phase II, will automate the tendering of outbound loads while leveraging
system information to drive financial benefits associated with managing
compliance with negotiated freight contracts and administrative efficiencies
gained in paying and accounting for freight bills.
Additionally, employing the BestTransport network solution also provides
benefits to JLG's carrier base. The system facilitates alignment of JLG's
transportation goals with the goals of the carriers and efficiently executes
the agreements. The system is very user friendly, easy to configure and
it is currently used by small and large carriers with varying degrees of
technical skills and needs.
Further benefit will be derived from the solution. "Beyond automation and
compliance of the business processes, the BestTransport solution will help
JLG optimize their internal and external carrier networks." said Amore.
The visibility of freight movement with the network of 3,000 carries helps
the shipper find carriers cost effectively as well as aiding carriers in
reduction of deadhead miles.
