BestTransport Hosts Collaborative Logistics Conference for Shippers and
Carriers
Event Focused on Technology, Best Practices, and Capacity
COLUMBUS, October 26, 2005- BestTransport, a leading carrier capacity network
and solutions provider, hosted its inaugural "Race for Results" Users' Conference
on October 13th and 14th at the Marriott Airport hotel located in Columbus,
Ohio.
The Conference, bringing together large shipper and carrier communities,
held sessions on transportation and logistic issues, compliance, automation,
technology and best practices. The forum facilitated mutual sharing of solutions
and latest business practices. "Many of our users are working in challenging
business climates that continually put demands on their resources," said
Sam Amore, Vice-President Marketing, BestTransport, "This is an excellent
environment that allows both shippers and carriers to have a forum to collaborate."
The event drew several industry experts from large shippers representing
building supplies, food packaging, large equipment, health care products,
metals and plastics. In addition, the carrier community was represented
by a contingency of both independent and national carriers.
The event hosted the following speaker and panel sessions: Addressing Capacity
in a Constrained Market, Identifying Areas of Improvement Through Automation
and Leveraging Compliance Across an Organization. Attendees also participated
in shipper-specific and carrier-specific forums that focused on business
and technology challenges. Shippers like Bull Moose Tube, Allegheny Ludlum
and Greif presented along with carriers such as Builders Transportation,
Clay Transport and Coordinators. The panels consisted of a mix of shippers,
carriers and logistics partners, for example CRST Malone, Celadon, Alcoa,
ICG Commerce, C.M.I. Freight-Trans and Boyd Brothers Transportation.
The collaborative participation during the conference exceeded expectations.
"The true value came from the open discussions from the shipper and carrier
communities that pertained to solving problems facing both sides;" shared
Stuart Gant, Director of National Sales for CRST Malone. "I felt the conference
not only demonstrated the newest concepts the company has to offer very
thoroughly, but also reminded us of the basic foundation the system was
built on which is a tool capable of providing tremendous value when managed
properly;" said Ken Kinyo, Senior Scheduler and Traffic Coordinator for
Ohio Coatings.
"I feel the BestTransport Users' Conference provided a valuable opportunity
to talk to a variety of carriers and shippers and discuss strategies for
dealing with a capacity-constrained environment. This conference provided
an efficient forum to talk to people I normally would not have contact with
- share ideas on carrier management and strategies for securing capacity.
EMJ is constantly evaluating new ideas to support our industry leading service
guarantees and I consider this conference time and money well spent;" said
Brian Yamaguchi, Manager Transportation & Logistics for Earle M. Jorgensen
Co. (EMJ).
"I suggest that BestTransport put this conference on at least once a year;
I've talked with fellow colleagues that wish they were there," stated Mike
Willingham, Executive Vice President for Builders Transportation Company.
"This conference was very informative. By having shippers and carriers present
on industry topics brought more perspective to the group that will ultimately
benefit the success of our businesses going forward..." said Denny DiLucia,
Terminal Supervisor for P. I. & I. Express.
