Bull Moose Tube Company Selects BestTransport
Leading Steel Tubular Products Manufacturer to Use BestTransport's On-line Transportation; Execution System to Control Freight Costs and Improve Carrier Management
COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 1, 2003) — BestTransport, the leading provider of on-line Transportation Execution Systems (TES), announced today that the Bull Moose Tube Company will use BestTransport's TES to gain more control over managing freight costs, on-time deliveries, and carrier procurement tasks.
Bull Moose Tube Company, a manufacturer of steel tubular products, headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri, will use BestTransport to consolidate transportation information for its six facilities and corporate sales office and integrate that information with its JD Edwards One World ERP system. Bull Moose Tube will securely access the BestTransport TES via the Internet to automate and manage the process of shipping their freight, ranging from creating loads and selecting carriers to tracking product delivery and paying the freight bill.
"Best Transport offers us the ability to better manage our total freight costs and improve our access to an increased number of viable carriers while giving our customers timely shipping status of their orders," said Jack Meyer, president and chief operating officer of Bull Moose Tube Company. "Best Transport will further raise the performance standards for Bull Moose Tube Company and our customers."
The BestTransport TES will enable Bull Moose Tube to ensure the consistent discipline and execution speed required to minimize freight costs. The automated tendering process eliminates the need to iteratively phone, e-mail and fax carriers, so the optimal carrier can be secured before they consider alternative freight. The TES will also track a shipment from the time it leaves production until it is delivered to provide constant visibility to Bull Moose Tube's transportation department, sales people and customers.
One of the key benefits Bull Moose Tube sees in using BestTransport is the ability to measure key freight performance metrics. The TES captures and compiles the data necessary to track progress and identify opportunities for improving freight costs, staff productivity and delivery responsiveness. Bull Moose Tube's management will be able to analyze and compare trends that impact total freight expense. In addition, the transportation department will be able to accurately measure and target factors for improvement such as carrier demand and contract compliance, rate opportunities in individual shipping lanes, and individual carrier performance.
"Bull Moose Tube is a growth oriented company that continually strives to exceed customer expectations," said Mark Shary, BestTransport's president. "We are pleased to assist them with ensuring that freight costs are well managed and customers are responsively served." BestTransport's metals industry expertise and ability to provide a rapid return on investment were keys to Bull Moose Tube's selection.
